In a Mitsubishi ASX, the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly, so you can't replace it separately. The fuel pump is situated inside the gas tank, which is accessible from behind the back seats in the rear passenger area. To reach the fuel pump, you need to remove the rear seat first and then lift up the carpet to uncover the access panel. Using a flat blade screwdriver may help you pry underneath the panel and detach it from the car's body. With the panel removed, you'll have a clear view of the top of the fuel pump. Disconnect the fuel line and electrical plug connected to it, and then unscrew the pump from the top of the gas tank. Carefully lift it out, making sure not to damage the sending unit in the process.
