The Audi A4 1.8L engine has its fuel pump located inside the primary fuse box under the vehicle's hood. This pump is responsible for transferring fuel from the gas tank to the fuel rail via the fuel filter. In older car models, fuel is typically sent to the carburetor. To ensure the engine receives this fuel for combustion, a functioning fuel pump relay is essential. If the relay fails, it can lead to fuel pump issues, resulting in reduced engine performance. Symptoms of a faulty fuel pump relay include sputtering, decreased fuel efficiency, higher engine temperatures, and in severe cases, difficulty starting the car due to a malfunctioning fuel pump.

It's clear these folks haven't tinkered with an Audi before if they're not aware of that. The fuse box in an Audi is located on the left side of the dashboard, behind a panel that you can pry open. I'm guessing you've already discovered this, though.
