One of the most typical OBD2 error codes found in a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse is P0181, indicating an issue with the fuel temperature sensor. When this code triggers, the check engine light will turn on, prompting you to address the problem promptly. If you encounter this issue, or something similar, you must first locate the sensor before attempting a repair. Unfortunately, accessing the sensor is not straightforward as it is situated inside the fuel tank to monitor the fuel's ambient temperature. To reach it, you'll have to lower the fuel tank, a potentially time-consuming task – especially without a lift. It is generally recommended to have a certified mechanic handle this repair for your Eclipse.
