The rear defroster fuse for the 2009 Chevy Malibu is located under the car's hood. You need to open the hood and locate a black box on the right-hand side of the engine compartment with a seam around it. Inside this box, you will find the fuse. The fuse's purpose is indicated on the back of the case or in the owner's manual. To replace a fuse, identify the one you need, then remove it. If the thin strip of metal connecting the two sections of the fuse is broken, it needs replacement. A new fuse costs around $10.
