If you need to take out the tank because of a leak or a faulty fuel pump, you'll require some basic tools and a safe method to lower the tank. There are specialized jacks on the market designed to cradle the tank securely during removal. Alternatively, you can place a board on a wide enough floor jack to support the tank. Before lowering the tank, remove the rubber boot between the hoses and the fuel filler neck. Then, use a 15-millimeter deepwell socket to loosen the nuts securing the tank straps. It's recommended to minimize the amount of gas in the tank for easier handling.
