Thankfully, both cleaning and replacing the valve are pretty simple tasks since it's easy to locate. To find it, first locate the throttle body assembly, usually by following the air tube from your air filter. Once you're there, you'll spot the idle control valve below and in front of the throttle position sensor, connected to the throttle body with a T25 Torx screw.

The idle control valve on my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L is situated right below the Throttle position sensor on the throttle body. These are the only components that can be easily removed and replaced, and they function in tandem.
