The inertia switch, also known as the fuel pressure inertia switch (FPIS), can be located in the passenger footwell area of your Ford Ranger underneath the dashboard near the front of the carpet. Once you lift the carpet, you'll spot the switch, a small grey box-shaped plastic component secured in place with a small hex bolt on opposite corners and a white switch on top. If you're experiencing a lack of fuel, try pressing the reset switch on top; it should resolve the issue unless the FPIS is completely malfunctioning. To determine if the switch is the problem, you can bypass it by disconnecting the harness pigtail and using a piece of wire to bridge the terminal slots. This action should activate the fuel pump; if it doesn't, the problem likely lies elsewhere and not with a faulty FPIS.
