In the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the speed sensor can be found on the right side of the transmission within the electrohydraulic control unit. Autozone offers a compatible part for around $26, which is more affordable than the Walmart alternative priced at $38. To install either, you just have to remove the bolts and disconnect the engine wiring harness from the old sensor, replace it with the new one, secure it with bolts, and reconnect the wiring harness. Keep in mind that the ECU might need a few engine cycles to clear any diagnostic trouble codes generated prior to the replacement.
The input speed sensor for the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee is located at the base of the engine block near the transmission.
I own a 2009 Grand Cherokee and I'm having trouble locating the sensor. It doesn't appear to be in the spot where others have mentioned.
