In the 2011 Kia Sorento, you can find the map sensor on the passenger side of the engine bay, connected to the vehicle's firewall. In fuel-injected engines, the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor plays a crucial role by monitoring the air intake to help the computer determine air density. This information allows for precise adjustments to fuel delivery and ignition timing. A faulty MAP sensor can disrupt the engine load calculation by the ECM, causing issues such as running too rich or too lean, leading to increased fuel consumption, decreased fuel efficiency, and potential engine detonation.

My Kia from 2011 has the MAP sensor located on the driver's side close to the fan, in the 2.4L, 4-cylinder model. Replacing the sensor is straightforward - you just need a 10mm socket with an extension (remember to disconnect the battery first). After installing the new sensor, I drove the car 4.2 miles and returned home. I waited for about half an hour before starting the engine again, only to see the error code "P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance" appear once more. Surprisingly, it's showing three identical P0106 codes.

The map sensor for the 2011 Kia Sorento can be found on the right side of the engine compartment, attached to the firewall of the car.
