In a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the mass air flow sensor can be found on the intake near the throttle body. This sensor, made of plastic and with two wires connected to it, is responsible for measuring the incoming air flow into the engine. By doing so, it informs the throttle body about the required opening time. The data it sends to the engine control unit (ECU) also helps improve the combustion process by indicating the air volume within the cylinders. If your vehicle is experiencing performance issues, it's advisable to inspect this sensor to ensure it is properly connected and operational.
