Your 2005 Chrysler Sebring is equipped with two oxygen sensors. The first sensor, known as sensor #1, is located between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter. Bank 2 refers to the side of the engine without cylinder #1. These sensors measure oxygen levels in the exhaust gases as they exit the engine. It is recommended to replace the oxygen sensor every 60,000 to 90,000 miles as it is a part that wears out over time. Warning signs of a failing oxygen sensor include increased fuel consumption, excessive exhaust smoke, engine timing issues, irregular combustion intervals, and potential stalling or sluggish acceleration.
