The diagnostic port can be located under the dashboard, below the steering wheel of the 2012 Nissan Altima. If there is no power, you should inspect the fuse to ensure it has not blown. You can access the fuse box by looking to the left of the steering wheel for a small seam or crack along the dash. Using a screwdriver or prybar, you can open this panel. Inside, you will find several fuses. On the back of the panel, you will find a diagram indicating the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not on the back of the panel, you can refer to the owner's manual for the vehicle. Once you have identified the necessary fuse, simply remove it. Check if the thin metal strip connecting the two sections of the fuse is intact. If it is broken, the fuse needs to be replaced. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still functional and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses are relatively inexpensive, typically costing around 10 dollars.
