To change the outdoor temperature sensor on a Volvo XC60, you will require a plastic pry tool and a T20 torx bit with a bit driver. Utilize the plastic pry tool to carefully remove the sensor located behind the passenger side door mirror. It is secure, so don't be afraid to apply some force. Avoid using a metal screwdriver as it may not provide enough surface area and can potentially harm the mirror. Once the mirror pops out, you'll have access to the sensor. The replacement sensor lacks a plug at the end, so you'll need to cut the wires from the old sensor and connect them to the new one.
The spot for the ambient air temperature sensor in the Volvo XC60 is located in the front of the engine compartment beneath the hood.
