The 2011 GMC Acadia is equipped with four oxygen sensors - two positioned in the front and underneath the engine, and located before and after the catalytic converter. Bank 1 Sensor 1 is situated by the firewall. These sensors in the Acadia are responsible for monitoring the oxygen levels in the fuel to determine if the engine is running either too rich or too lean. If these sensors begin to malfunction, it can lead to increased oil and fuel consumption, rough idling, a lit-up "check engine" indicator, decreased power and acceleration, as well as misfiring of spark plugs. Gradually, this lack of timing and emissions control could result in damage to the engine and exhaust components. The average cost to replace an oxygen sensor in the Acadia ranges from $380 to $400 for parts and labor.
The oxygen sensor in the 2011 GMC Acadia can be found both upstream and downstream of the catalytic converter.
