In your 2001 Audi TT, you can find the speed sensor in the front of the engine bay. To locate it, first open the hood and secure it with the prop arm. Then, check the back of the transmission in the engine compartment, which is positioned on the left or passenger side of the engine. The output shaft can be seen on the right side of the transmission, either free or attached to it and typically under a valve cover. If the sensor is defective, you will have to replace it. The cost of a new sensor is typically between $23 and $85.
