In the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, the starter is located on the front passenger side of the car, beneath the engine. To test or remove it, you'll need to go through the front passenger's wheel well after taking off the tire and inner fender. The starter is held in place by a few bolts that should be easy to reach. To stay safe when working underneath the vehicle, make sure your Jetta is securely supported on jack stands. Even though you won't be directly under the car, there's still a risk of the rotor falling and causing damage or injury. Since the starter is part of the electrical system, don't forget to disconnect the negative battery terminal and discharge any excess power before starting any work.
In the 2014 VW Jetta, the starter is situated within the steering column and is linked to the ignition mechanism where you insert the keys.
