In a Ford Ranger, the starter motor can be located on the driver's side of the engine at the bottom, near the transmission's bell housing. If your truck won't start, start by inspecting the battery. If there is no noise when you try to start the truck, the issue could be a dead battery. On the other hand, hearing clicking or grinding sounds from the starter suggests a failing starter motor. In some cases, worn gears on the starter motor may require replacement.
