To access the bottom bolt, you'll need to get underneath the vehicle. You may also reach the top bolt, but if not, you can simply remove the air box assembly to get to it. Regarding James B.'s answer, how does all that battery information relate to finding the starter?

My 2007 Kia Sportage starter isn't at the back of the engine or under the air box. It's slightly to the left of the center at the front of the vehicle. Now I understand why I couldn't locate it despite all the suggestions.
