The 2008 Ford Taurus starter is located towards the front of the engine, close to the cooling fan beneath the left side of the cylinders on the driver's side. Accessing the starter might be a bit tricky as you will have to take out the air filter assembly, the motor, the battery tray, and the water hose heater when removing it. Make sure to disconnect the starter wires. The nuts to release the heater tubing can be found behind the plastic air vent just below the turbo. The price for a new starter varies between $65 and $120, depending on whether you opt for an OEM or aftermarket replacement.
