The starter relay is positioned in the passenger compartment fuse box beneath the driver's side of the dashboard. It is located above the fuses towards the right side near the firewall. To access it, the kick panel and the plastic trim on the driver's door threshold need to be removed. The relay directs the battery's current to the starter when the ignition switch is activated. If the relay malfunctions, it may fail to supply power to the starter, necessitating a replacement of the relay only. In some cases, a faulty relay can cause the starter to burn out when attempting to start the car, in which scenario both the relay and the starter would need to be replaced.
