In the 2004 Ford Explorer, the starter solenoid is built into the starter motor itself. If you want to replace it, you'll have to replace the whole unit. However, solenoid failures are rare. If you suspect electrical issues with the starter, it's recommended to check the starter relay first, which is a more cost-effective starting point for troubleshooting. The starter relay can be found in the engine compartment within the relay panel. Look for the black relay in the second row from the top of the box.
