The Ford Transit's thermostat is positioned on the right side of the radiator where it connects to the lower coolant line leading to the water pump. It is connected to a sensor with a couple of wires. At the top of the engine near the right cylinder head, you will find the thermostat housing attached to the coolant hose. Common signs of a faulty thermostat include increased fuel consumption, black smoke or soot emissions while driving, and potential overheating issues. Driving with a malfunctioning thermostat can lead to serious damage, so it is recommended to avoid driving the vehicle and instead take it to a repair shop for diagnosis and repair.
