The transfer case control module in the 2004 Kia Sorento is prone to breaking down and can be expensive to replace, with mechanics typically charging between $1,000 and $1,500 for the job. However, the actual part costs only $300 to $400, and it is conveniently located beneath the passenger's front carpet. Simply lift the carpet to find the TCCM attached to the center console bracing with two connectors and two 10mm bolts. It is positioned closer to the front of the vehicle for easy access. To assist in identifying it, you can search for images of the '04 Sorento's TCCM on various automotive retailers' websites.
