To swap out the transmission control module in a 2007 Nissan Xterra, it's best to head to a dealership or repair shop. This is because you'll need to go under the vehicle to remove the valve body from the transmission. First, the skid plate secured by 10-millimeter hex head bolts must be taken off. Drain the transmission fluid by disconnecting the lines leading to the transmission cooler. Then, remove the transmission pan and unplug the two electrical connectors connected to the valve body. Lastly, detach the bolts holding the valve body and lower it out of the transmission.
The transmission control module for the 2007 Nissan Xterra can be found on the driver's side, next to the brake pedal. You'll need to take off the lower kick plate to access it.
