In the 2008 Chevy Impala, the transmission control module can be found housed within the air filter housing. To access it, you need to first remove the support bar on the front driver's side of the engine compartment, which is secured by four bolts requiring a 13-millimeter socket for removal. After that, use a regular screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the electrical connector located on top of the hose connected to the air box. Unclip the air filter housing by releasing two clips on top and two on each side. Once the housing is separated, locate the control module positioned on the right side at the bottom, near the PCM. Remove the TCM by pulling it straight up from the socket, which is connected by a blue electrical connector. Press down on the blue tab and release the electrical connection by pushing back the grey lever.
