The 2004 Chrysler Sebring is equipped with a voltage regulator that can be easily located in the engine compartment. To access it, you should first go to the front of the vehicle and use the prop arm to open the hood securely. Then, search towards the left or passenger side of the engine block where the voltage regulator will either be mounted separately outside the block or inside the alternator. If it is faulty, you will need to replace the regulator, which can cost between $30 and $58 for the part. If you opt to have a professional automotive technician service it, expect to pay an additional $87 to $239 for labor.

The position of the voltage regulator (VR) in Sebring cars depends on the model you own. For coupe or convertible models, the VR can be found at the rear of the alternator. In a sedan, the VR is integrated into the PCM. If you find a faulty VR in a sedan, you will need to replace the entire PCM.
