The 2000 Honda CR-V uses a special yellow antifreeze that lasts longer in its engine and cooling system. To change the coolant in the vehicle, start by opening the hood and locating the radiator at the front of the engine compartment. Attached to the radiator is a clear or black plastic container known as the coolant reservoir. It contains a drain plug, a fill plug, and a dipstick to measure the coolant level. If you're just topping up the coolant, measure the amount in the reservoir and add more if needed. For a full flush, open the drain plug and let the old coolant flow out into a bucket. You can use water to help with the flushing process, and once the water runs mostly clean, close the drain plug. Fill the reservoir to the appropriate cool or cold line indicated by the dipstick, then replace the cap.
