Switch the ignition to the accessory position to prevent the steering wheel from locking, leave the key in, release the parking brake, and turn off the radio and other accessories to avoid draining the battery.

Honda CR-Vs from 2014 and earlier can be towed using the flat towing method if the correct steps are followed. However, starting from 2015, CR-Vs cannot be flat towed anymore because of a powertrain redesign that includes a "CVT" transmission.

As someone who sells Honda cars and works at a dealership, I can clarify that 2014 was the final year for the CRV with a 6-speed transmission, and from 2015 onwards, they switched to a CVT. However, the 2020 model year is the last for the Honda Fit, so you should make your decision quickly before it is discontinued.

In the manual for my 2020 CRV, it states that the vehicle is not meant to be towed by a motor home. If towing is necessary in an emergency, consult the emergency towing guidelines on page 640.
