The recommended transmission fluid for a 2008 Ford Escape v6 is dexron ATF-4. To change the transmission fluid, start by ensuring the car is parked on level ground and open the hood. Locate the transmission fluid reservoir, usually near the transmission itself, and locate the dipstick. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and then pull it out again. Take note of the fluid level indicated and determine how much more fluid is needed to fill the reservoir. Use a funnel to slowly add fluid until the reservoir is full or at the designated level. Avoid overfilling, it's okay to be slightly under. Close the reservoir securely and you're all set.
