If the check engine light and AWD lights are illuminated on your 2015 Toyota RAV4, it suggests there may be an issue with the all-wheel drive system. However, since the AWD system receives data from the power control module, it's possible there is no actual problem with it. To determine the cause of the light activation, you will need to use an OBD II scan tool on the OBD II port in your vehicle. This will enable you to retrieve the error code and gain more insight. One of the most common reasons for the check engine light coming on is a loose gas cap, which can trigger a vacuum leak detection.

I have a 2015 Rav4 with an ongoing engine issue. I took it to the shop, where they identified the canister as the cause and replaced it with the gas cap. Despite this fix, the problem persists.

My wife's 2013 Rav4 had the same issue twice. We found that making sure the gas cap is tight solved the problem. If you still smell gas even with a secure cap, try getting a new one. Disconnect one cable from the battery, then reconnect it. Start the car - it might stall initially. Try starting it again. The check engine light and AWD light should turn off.
