Why are the check engine light and hold light on my Chevy Aveo flashing?

If the HOLD mode light on your Chevy Aveo is flashing, it could signal an issue with the automatic transmission, possibly related to gear shifting. Some Chevy Aveo owners have found that replacing the coil packs resolved the HOLD light issue. Another potential culprit for the problem could be a malfunctioning coolant thermostat. A coil pack consists of ignition coils that help generate sparks to fire each cylinder in the engine. If you're not experiencing any transmission issues, consider starting with replacing the coil pack to address the HOLD light flashing.

I replaced the coil pack and spark plugs on my 2009 Chevy Aveo, but the hold light is still flashing and the temperature gauge stopped working. Any ideas on what might be causing this issue?

When I exceed 100 mph, my engine light and hold light begin flashing. I've tried everything - swapping out the coil pack, spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, O2 sensors, cleaning the injectors, and even giving the engine a full clean. But that darn hold light is still flashing. I'm stuck at a standstill. Any ideas on what the issue might be?

My Aveo's hold button indicator started flashing. We removed the gear shift box and found a small device near the gear shift with a button. To use the car, start it, press the button, and shift gears. The car functions properly without any issues. The only downside is that the plastic cover is currently off until I can get the HOLD button switch replaced.

I installed a new coil pack, changed the spark plugs and fuel injector, and inspected the air filter and hose. Although the noise has decreased, the engine light continues to flash intermittently. What other components should I consider checking next?

My car was flashing warning lights and idling very roughly, it was pretty bad. Plus, the transmission wasn't shifting properly. I managed to get it home and called my mechanic from AutoZone to come over. He installed a new ignition coil and spark plugs. I took it for a test drive around the neighborhood, and now it's shifting smoothly. Thank goodness!

Some believe the issue might lie in the engine wiring harness or the ECU. However, my mechanic insists it's the Transmission and has been pushing for an overhaul. I believe it's not the Transmission though - the check engine light goes off first, followed by the hold light being triggered. The OBD reader shows an ENGINE MISSFIRE 0P300 code, indicating an engine misfire. Despite this issue, the car runs smoothly but refuses to shift into 4th gear when the lights flash. I've gotten used to it and continue driving as it is. A temporary solution I've found is to put the gear in neutral, turn off the engine, then restart it and shift into drive, which allows it to shift into 4th gear. I'm torn between continuing to drive it in its current state due to the amount already spent on repairs, or selling it to the junkyard and giving up.

My 2006 car is experiencing a severe shifting issue, with very little power when starting and lacking a passing gear. The "hold" light is constantly blinking. I have been researching possible causes and suspect it might be related to the camshaft position sensor. I plan to replace it soon, as it seems like a relatively simple task. I will provide an update on the situation later.

The check engine light and hold button are both flashing while I'm driving, but the car is still shifting gears smoothly on inclines. I plan to take it to the shop for repairs and then consider trading it in.

Next to the gear shifter, there's a button labeled "hold." Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position without actually starting the car, then press the hold button. Once I start the car following these steps, the flashing hold light should go off.

Brake light switch is designed to automatically activate, causing both lights to flash and preventing the vehicle from shifting correctly.

I'm experiencing a similar problem - even though I've changed the coil pack and spark plug, the check engine light still comes on and stays on while I'm driving.

I believe we should replace the crankshaft sensor because it is sending a faulty signal to the computer, causing the ignition coil to misfire.
