After resetting the infotainment screen, I found that the steering wheel audio controls are now working properly on my 2016 F-150 XLT 4x4. To do the reset, I held down the volume and seek up buttons for about 10 seconds until the screen turned black and reset. It wasn't related to SYNC as I initially thought, but rather seems to be an issue with the screen receiving inputs from the steering wheel controls. According to the manual, the touchscreen system has a reset feature that can be used to restore functionality without deleting any stored information. To perform the reset, press and hold the Seek Up button while holding the Radio Power button. After about 5 seconds, the screen will go black, and the reset will take 1-2 minutes to complete before you can resume using the SYNC system.
