If the interior lights in your Ford 500 remain illuminated, the first thing to investigate is the setting of the interior light switch. This switch offers three settings: off, on, and auto. The auto setting will switch off the lights automatically once the doors are shut. However, if the switch is on, the lights will stay lit continuously until the battery runs out. If your switch is set to auto, I recommend examining the door sensors. If the vehicle does not register that the doors are closed, the light switch will not trigger the automatic shutoff. In such a scenario, it would be wise to keep the switch in the off position to prevent the lights from activating at all.

The most probable reason why a dome light stays on is either due to unintentionally activating the dashboard light control knob or having a malfunctioning door switch.
