If the heated steering wheel in the 2013 Kia Optima is not functioning, there are a couple of common issues to consider. It is possible that the heater element has burned out, but it is more likely that the fuse is the problem. To access the fuse box, look to the left of the steering wheel for a small seam or crack along the dash. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open this panel. Inside, you will see a variety of fuses. On the back of the panel you opened, there will be a diagram illustrating the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not available, you can refer to the owner's manual for the vehicle. Once you have identified the fuse you need, simply remove it. Check to see if the thin metal strip connecting the two raised sections of the fuse is intact. If the strip is broken, the fuse needs to be replaced. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still good and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses are relatively inexpensive, typically costing around $10.
