If the heater in your Chevrolet Captiva isn't working, there are a couple of potential issues to consider. It could be a faulty heater core or fan motor, but a more likely culprit is a blown fuse. To access the fuse box, locate a small seam or crack on the left side of the dashboard near the steering wheel. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open this panel. Inside, you'll see a series of fuses. Refer to the diagram on the back of the panel to identify the specific fuse related to the heater. If you can't find the diagram there, consult the vehicle's owner's manual. Once you've identified the problematic fuse, remove it for inspection. If the thin strip of metal connecting the two raised sections of the fuse is broken, the fuse is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still good and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses are typically inexpensive, costing around $10.

The electronic system needed to be rebooted. After purchasing our vehicle, we found that the heater wasn't functioning the following day. We hadn't tested it at the dealership since it wasn't cold that day, but when it got a bit chilly the next day, it failed to work. We returned it to the dealership, and the salesman explained that the electronic system just needed to be reset. Since then, we haven't encountered any further issues with it.

The main reasons why the heater may not work in a Chevrolet Captiva include a faulty heater blower motor, issues with the thermostat, or a malfunctioning heater blower motor resistor.
