If the electrical outlet in your Ford Escape isn't functioning, you have a few options to consider. While a faulty battery or alternator could be the cause, you may also be dealing with a bad fuse. To access the fuse box, locate a small seam or crack to the left of the steering wheel along the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to carefully open this panel. Inside, you'll find various fuses. There should be a diagram on the back of the panel or in the owner's manual that indicates the purpose of each fuse. Identify the problematic fuse by looking for a thin strip of metal connecting the two raised sections; if this strip is broken, the fuse needs replacement. A new fuse can be purchased for about $10.
