New report design represents significant departure from previous design and provides more comprehensive information to used car buyers.
EpicVIN, one of the premier distributors of vehicle history reports, today announced an extensive overhaul of its website’s used car reports to better serve its customers by providing them with easily digestible reports with an emphasis on putting the most important information front and center.
The new, comprehensive reports feature 11 categories ranging from ownership history to any potential damages of a vehicle. The report’s new look features a status bar on the right hand side of the page that allows for easy navigation to certain sections within the report. Photos of cars – including photos from car auctions, which is unique to EpicVIN’s services – appear front and center within the report and help tell a detailed and accurate account of the vehicle’s current and past conditions.
The site’s new outline features the following categories:
- Outline
- Ownership History
- Vehicle Specifications
- All History Events
- Safety Recall Check
- Junk/Salvage/Insurance Records
- Title History Information
- Major Title Brand Check
- Other Title Brand Check
- Vehicle Damages
- Sales History
Outline: Within the outline section of the report, EpicVIN provides the critical information right away. The year, make, model and VIN number are all positioned at the top of the page to ensure a potential used car shopper has the key information needed. In addition to a navigation bar on the righthand side, the outline section of the report also allows users to navigate to six sections, including safety recalls, accidents, last reported mileages, and previous owners. The outline section helps bring into focus some of the key information of the vehicle.
Ownership History: Next is the ownership history section of the report. Displayed prominently toward the top of the report, this section helps shoppers understand how many people have owned a specific car in the past. The ownership history section includes how many owners the car has had previously, the odometer readings, when the car was purchased, and how many years it was with a specific owner.
Vehicle Specifications: This section aims to provide the most basic and critical pieces of information about a car within an easy-to-read section. EpicVIN now streamlines additional details on the site including key features within the ‘vehicle specifications’ section. The new design now focuses on the key features of a vehicle including the year, make, model, engine, country of production, and its fuel type. By streamlining this information, EpicVIN has put the more important information in front of shoppers first.
All History Events: The ‘All History Events’ section allows shoppers to see within a graph major events that have happened within a car’s journey and the corresponding mileage when it did. For example, if a vehicle went in for routine maintenance with 6,300 miles on it, a user can easily pinpoint on the graph the exact mileage and date when the maintenance occurred. This is extremely helpful for all cars, but especially those with higher mileage and longer histories of maintenance.
Safety Recall Check: Used car buyers want to know whether a car they’re purchasing has had any major issues over its lifespan. The Safety Recall Check at EpicVIN aims to provide just that. With detailed information about recalls – including dates, the country where it occurred, and detailed records of the recall – EpicVIN provides a unique look into a car’s history with an easy-to-read chart.
Junk/Salvage/Insurance Records: If you’re in the market for a car with a junk or salvaged title, this is the area you’ll want to navigate to first. This section has a record of any junk/salvaged title that was reported to NMVTIS and has been deemed either a junk, salvage, or in the case of an insurer, a total loss.
Title History Information: Whether you’re interested in the current title information of a car or the historical information of its title, this is the section you’ll want to explore next. Within the Title History Information section, used car shoppers will have the ability to see current and past title history, mileage, and the event (title/registration/etc.).
Major Title Brand Check: In addition to seeing who has owned the title of a car over its lifespan, EpicVIN allows used car shoppers to see major title brand check information as well. This information includes fire brand, hail brand, flood brand, manufacturer buyback, and other types of title checks that can be extremely helpful in understanding the history of a car. You’ll want to have as much information as possible when negotiating the purchase of a car and the ‘major title brand check’ section at EpicVIN can provide a unique look into a car’s past.
Other Title Brand Check: If you haven’t found what you’re looking for in regards to the car’s title by now, chances are you’ll find it within this section. EpicVIN’s ‘Other Title Brand Check’ provides the full look at a car’s title history and will surely provide the information you’re seeking.
Vehicle Damages: Outside of the vehicle maintenance history, this section may be the most important to understand before deciding whether to purchase a used car. EpicVIN’s unique graphics and information aim to provide the complete picture when it comes to any potential vehicle damages or past damages on a car. Crash records and junk/salvage are just some of the information you’ll find within this section that’s complete with graphics and hot spots to show exactly where damage has occurred.
Sales History: If you want to know the path a car has taken, look no further than EpicVIN’s sales history section. Complete with accompanying photos that show the exact car you’re searching, this section tells the detailed sales history of the vehicle including date of sale, location, odometer reading, and in some cases, the previous sale price.
Market Price Analysis: Now that you have the full picture of a car thanks to EpicVIN’s report, you can take it one step further by seeing what a fair price for the vehicle is. Taking into account average pricing for vehicles similar to the one you’re shopping, EpicVIN provides below market, average dealer price, and above market pricing to ensure you’re armed with the best possible analytics before negotiating the sale of a vehicle.
The changes, which now appear on the EpicVIN website, aim to provide the most complete set of data points needed when making a used car purchase. After conducting surveys among our loyal customers to truly understand what they wanted to see in our reports, we’ve redesigned the site to better align with their feedback. Additionally, the new redesigned site allows for a better mobile experience as we’ve seen that many of our customers prefer to research cars on their mobile devices.
Compared to the previous website design, EpicVIN’s used car reports now have a status menu on the righthand side to easily navigate to certain sections including safety recall checks, ownership history, title history information, and major title brand checks, among others.
Similar to its previous design, EpicVIN has kept in place a detailed photo section of the cars in its database so shoppers can see pictures of the car alongside its historical information. This is a separation from its main competitors who don’t show photos from automobile auctions like the ones available on the EpicVIN website.
Larger graphics and fonts make EpicVIN’s redesigned website easier to navigate and will allow potential used car buyers a more user-friendly experience when navigating the site. With an emphasis on putting key information at the top of the report, shoppers will have a better understanding of a used car’s history compared to the previous website design.
EpicVIN’s new website design aims to provide used car buyers with critical information that’s easy to understand and digest. With used car buying already a stressful process, EpicVIN aims to make gathering information as seamless as possible.
