As the proud owner of a 2017 Ford Transit, you might be curious about any safety concerns or issues with the brakes for your specific vehicle. There have been several reports of brake-related problems, such as sudden brake failure that could significantly raise the chances of an accident or injury. Another issue reported is the brake pedal getting stuck in a compressed state. If you need to replace the brakes, the parts alone may cost you anywhere from $48 to $248. Additionally, if you opt for a professional technician or mechanic to handle the replacement, you can expect to pay an extra $80 to $260 for labor.

The back brake pads tend to wear out quicker than the front ones. I got around 36,000 miles out of the rear pads on my 2017 van. The front pads are still the original ones and have 9mm of tread left at 44,000 miles. I typically carry a load of about 9,500 pounds in my van daily, sometimes even exceeding 10,000 pounds. In addition, I tow a dump trailer that weighs 4,000 pounds when empty and 8,000-9,000 pounds with a normal load. Just to give you an idea of how the brakes on my van are affected. I also drive aggressively and have upgraded to larger tires.

Replaced the front brakes. Now the brakes squeak when pressure is applied to them.
