To change the transfer case fluid in your BMW X5 e70, start by positioning yourself at the front of the car. Use the prop arm on the passenger side (left side) of the engine bay to hold the hood open securely. Locate the transmission at the rear of the left side of the engine block, where you'll find a red and black cap. This cap marks the transfer fluid reservoir. Before adding new fluid, check the transmission fluid levels with the dipstick. If needed, use a funnel to add more fluid into the reservoir, then replace the cap.
To add transmission fluid to a BMW X5 E70, first park the vehicle on a level surface and open the hood. Find the transmission and look for the dipstick, which has a round O-ring at the end. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and check the fluid level. Find the intake spout on the transmission and, if necessary, place a funnel into the spout. Pour the fluid until the dipstick indicates a full level. Finally, reinsert the dipstick, close the intake spout, and you're done.
