If you own a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500, it's recommended to use 5w-30 oil and keep an eye on the oil level as it will need to be changed regularly. Generally, it's a good idea to change the oil every 5,000 to 10,000 miles to prevent engine issues. Using high-quality oil is crucial for the engine's performance, and neglecting oil changes can lead to engine failure. Signs of bad oil include a burning smell, poor gas mileage, and knocking noises from the engine, which should be addressed promptly to avoid potential problems, including the risk of a car explosion.
I don't know where you got the 5w30 information, but the cap on mine clearly states 5w-20. Disregard that fool.
For 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks equipped with either a 3.7-liter or 5.7-liter engine, it is recommended to use 5W-30 oil. However, depending on the outside temperature, a different oil viscosity grade may be needed. If the lowest air temperature is above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, a 10W-30 oil can be used as an alternative, although the preference remains for the 5W-30 grade oil. The oil change capacities, including a new filter, are 5 quarts for the 3.6L V6 engine and 7 quarts for the 5.7L V8 engine.
The manual for my 5.7 Hemi engine recommends using 5w-20 oil.
