To reset the oil life light in a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, follow these steps. Most of the time, your mechanic will do this for you during maintenance, but if not, you can easily do it yourself. Park the vehicle, close all doors, and turn the key to the RUN position without starting the engine. Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor and release it three times within 10 seconds. Turn the ignition off, then start the vehicle to confirm the reset. If you're handling the maintenance, you will need 5.6 liters (5.9 quarts) of 5W-20 oil for the 3.6- and 4.7-liter engine, and 6.6 liters (7.0 quarts) for the 5.7-liter engine.
To clear the oil level alert or maintenance reminder in your 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 truck, switch the ignition on and press the gas pedal down slowly three times. Then, start your vehicle and the oil light should show it has been reset.
It didn't work; you also have to press the brake pedal.
This method only applies to the specific key models. The push start feature is not the same.
