To start a 2016 Chevy Equinox by jumpstarting it, first find the battery on both cars. Connect the positive (red) cable from the working car's battery to the positive terminal on both car batteries. Then, attach the black cable to the negative terminal of the working vehicle and to an unpainted metal surface on the dead car. Avoid mixing up the positive and negative cables. Start the working car and let it run for 3-5 minutes while connected to the dead car. Attempt to start the dead vehicle. If it doesn't start, double-check the cable connections, wait a bit, and try again.

First, you'll want to connect one end of the red jumper cable to the positive terminal on the car's battery that's offering the jump. Then, attach the other end of the red jumper cable to the positive terminal on your Equinox. Once that's done, start the car providing the jump and allow its battery to charge up a bit before attempting to start your Equinox.
