In my opinion, if you have a 6-speed transmission in a GMC from 2015 to 2018, I recommend replacing it. I have personally experienced issues with mine, having it rebuilt twice in less than 8,250 miles. The torque converters are not durable and tend to overheat and cause damage to the transmission. I suggest considering a Dodge instead, as I have had a negative experience with GMC vehicles and do not intend to purchase another one.

I have a 2017 GMC Sierra with 21,000 miles, owned by a single owner. The jerking and shuttering were awful, but after changing the filter and using Mobil 1 blue label synthetic, it improved somewhat. However, I still have doubts about its reliability. I'm considering taking it to a transmission shop for upgrades like a billet converter, shift kit, and thermostat kit. If these modifications don't fix the issues, I'll trade it in for a different vehicle. Although I've always been a Chevy truck fan, my experience with this Sierra has made me hesitant to recommend or purchase another one. The price may be high, but the quality seems lacking.
