In 2017, the Honda CR-V may experience issues with its electric parking brake due to battery problems. Unlike traditional parking brake systems that use cables or vacuum assist, the CR-V has an electronic actuator for engaging and disengaging the brake. If the vehicle's battery voltage drops below 12v, the actuator system may encounter a problem and get stuck either on or off based on its previous state. My electric parking brake got stuck and wouldn't let me start the car. It also alerted me about low tire pressure, leaving me stranded. I had to get the car towed to the dealer, only to find out that the issue was with the battery! Luckily, Honda replaced the battery for free under the 3-year new car warranty for my 2017 CRV-EX. It seems that when the battery is low, it can't support the electric parking brake system, causing it to lock up.
