The Lexus GX470 requires 6.8 quarts of coolant, specifically a "Red" antifreeze that is ethylene glycol based. This coolant should not be mixed with borate or silicate-based coolants. A jug of Valvoline brand suitable for this type of coolant costs around $20 at Walmart for a 32oz jug. To drain the radiator, locate the small yellow drain plug on the driver's side at the bottom of the radiator. Turn the plug counter-clockwise to loosen it, then pull it out. To direct the coolant away from where your Lexus is parked, you can attach a piece of tubing to the drain tube.
Hey Leland, just to clarify, does the 6.8 quart capacity refer to the radiator only, or does it also include the block and heating core? Thanks!
