The 2018 Chevy DuRamax features a diesel engine that comes with a separate reservoir holding 7.5 liters of DEF (diesel exhaust fluid), distinct from the gas tank. DEF is utilized to minimize emissions that are harmful, and it is inserted upstream in the truck and eventually passes through the SCR catalyst to transform the exhaust's chemical composition into nitrogen and water. By introducing DEF, the "NOX" or nitrogen in the diesel fuel is turned into less harmful substances. To refill the Chevy DuRamax with DEF, you can lift the hood and find the reservoir on the passenger side of the engine bay, recognizable by a blue cap found on most vehicles.
The 2018 Chevy Duramax has a DEF tank size of 7.0 gallons.
That amount of 7.5 liters (equal to 1.92 gallons) is incorrect! The correct capacity is roughly around 26.9 liters (equivalent to 7 gallons).
Incorrect information. 7.5 liters.
I recently filled up my tank with 5.7 gallons of fuel, and it was at 20% capacity before I refilled it. I think the tank holds around 7 gallons.
The listed capacity of 7.5 liters seems off...it should actually read as 7.5 gallons.
The DEF tank can hold up to 7.5 liters, which equals about 7.93 quarts or nearly 1.98 gallons of DEF.
I just added 2.5 gallons of blue diesel exhaust fluid, which filled the tank about one-third of the way. I think 7.0 gallons is the correct amount needed.
