In the 2010 Ford Ranger 2.3, the oil capacity is 4.5 quarts. When changing the oil, start by ensuring the vehicle has been turned off and has cooled for a couple of hours to avoid getting burned by hot oil. Locate the oil pan and drain plug underneath the engine compartment. Place a bucket under the plug and remove it to let the oil drain out completely, which may take around an hour. Reinstall the drain plug once it's done draining. Next, locate the intake port on top of the oil pan and use a funnel to refill it with oil, making sure not to overfill. It's okay to be slightly under the full mark, but overfilling can cause leaks and excess oil burn-off. Close the port tightly, clean up any spilled oil, and you're all set.
