In a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, you can add a little over 5 quarts of transmission fluid. It is recommended to use a DEXRON VI synthetic ATF for this vehicle, particularly for the slip lockup clutch. To check the fluid level, look for a small black cap on the lower front side of the transmission and unscrew it to access the check port. Add fluid through the top cap until it begins to drip out of the opened port. Be cautious not to overfill as excessive pressure can cause damage to the gears.
The amount of transmission fluid needed for a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan is 5.5 quarts for the first fill and 9 quarts for a complete fill.
Only ATF+4 should be used in this transmission. Using Dextron is not the correct solution.
