In the United States, the 2018 Mitsubishi RVR goes by the name Outlander Sport. It's not intended for towing, according to Mitsubishi. On the other hand, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander offers two engine options. The 2.4L i-4 can tow up to 1,500 pounds, while the 3.0L V6 has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. If you're feeling adventurous and want to push it, you could try matching the Sport's towing capacity with the lower 1,500 pounds, but it's not recommended. If your Sport has the smaller 2.0L i-4, it's best to stick to hauling cargo. The slight advantage of towing around a quarter to a half ton isn't worth risking damage to your transmission.
