To clear the gas cap indicator on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, follow these steps. First, ensure the gas cap is securely tightened and not damaged. Twist the cap counterclockwise until it clicks three times to fasten it securely. Next, start the engine and drive the SUV for approximately 10 minutes for the OBD-II system to reset the gas cap light automatically. If the warning persists, use an OBD diagnostic tool to manually reset the code.
I replaced the gas cap, drove for around 50 miles, turned the ignition on and off about 6 times, and checked the onboard diagnostics system for error codes (reset it anyway). However, the problem light is still on.
